Iranian Foreign Minister: Iran is ready for a nuclear agreement

Iranina Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif underlined Iranˈs readiness for a nuclear agreement. Iranian IRNA writes about this.

He made the remarks on Wednesday when talking to the US National Public Radio ( NPR) in the first day of his visit to New York.

During the trip, he is to have an active general diplomacy by making interviews with media and attending the US intellectual and political circles.

According to the NPR website, Zarif talked about Iran’s nuclear talks with the 5+1 and stressed that all “wrong options” have been examined in the past.

He said now Iran was ready for an agreement.

He said the main thing to do now was to choose the right way to put the issue to a certain group of domestic people in the USA and parts of Europe who do not favor such an agreement.

He further dismissed the idea of a number of western officials who say disagreement with Iran is better than a “bad agreement”.

He believed it was all quite clear that developing an agreement was always much better than a situation where there was no agreement in the horizon.

Zarif stressed that west’s sanctions on Iran’s peaceful nuclear program had no effects on the country because Tehran did not forsake its nuclear program because of them.

Note, that Zarif is in New York for the new round of talks between Iran and Group 5+1.

The talks started on Wednesday with Zarif hosting a working launch with the European Union Foreign policy Chief Catherine Ashton.

Talks coincide with the next week meeting of the United Nations General Assembly which is to be attended by President Hassan Rouhani.
